Chinese 'Hatcher Cargo' Blue & White Porcelain Dragon Wine Cups The Hatcher Cargo of Chinese porcelain was recovered from the wreck of a Chinese ship that sunk near the South China sea port of Batavia (today Jakarta) in the 1640's. The group of approximately 25,000 pieces of porcelain was discovered in 1983 by Captain Michael Hatcher. The collection was later sold through a series of four sales at Christies Amsterdam in 1984 Signature: one of the cups has a Hatcher cargo label on the bottom. Age: circa 1640's Condition: excellent condition. There are no chips, hairlines, or repairs. The glaze is slightly degraded from exposure to salt water.
